5 artists, 1 Mailänder press, 1 Präsident, 5 prints, over 100 mixes and 1 book

Today, prints and books published in small editions are considered as original artworks. Printmaking has become a fully grown artistic practice.

In this optics, we developped an experimental project that takes place in a limited time of four weeks between january and june 2014 in the printshop of Thomas Siemon in the Spinnerei in Leipzig.

The project is supported by Joop Stoop, printmakers ink and paper.

Each of us developped one big original reliefprint (95x138cm) in 4 or 5 colours. We printed our works in 25 copies on the Mailänder press.
Then we started jaming, printing elements from our prints over each other to create mixes. This ended up in a production of 143 unique prints (95x138cm).
We also created a collectif book based on the same jaming idea. We cut up our plates and mix our elements on the pages. Some elements were originaly created for the book. Printjam Leipzig (23,5x32 cm, 94 pages) is printed in 300 copies on the Präsident press and published by Lubok Verlag.

The various aspects of the project will be shown for the first time in the Spinnerei Archiv massiv in Leipzig during the open days (rundgängen) of the Spinnerei, saturday the 13th of september. The exposition runs until the 24th of october 2014.

You can support the project by buying the book, one print or the whole portfolio (all 5 prints, 1 book, 1 free choice between the mixes).
